Let the grind begin.
Today we stayed out late having fun for our last night in Vegas. Now I have to get some work done. At least I didn’t drink a lot!
This is the grind part. When you stay out way too late by either choice or circumstance, do you dig in and get the work done? Do you stay up for whatever it takes? Or do you give in to being tired and unmotivated?
I almost just gave in tonight. But then my wife mentioned it, and we left the casino and headed to do work in the room.
I sat down and got straight to work. It’s the only way I can do it. If I sit down or try to do anything else I’ll throw in the towel.
So when this happens to you. No breaths, no just a minute, no get something to eat and then I’ll do my work. You have to do the work first or you will never get to it.
So I finish this post with that simple thought. When it’s late and you are tired, go to the work first and the take care of the other things.
In the Marine Corps you always had take care of your weapon, then your gear, then you could take care of yourself.
I put this challenge before my comfort because I want to be better. So I put being better before my comfort, hunger, or rest.
And Marine Corps has another stupid saying. It goes with getting enough rest. “You can sleep when you are dead!” Not really cool if you want to be healthier and better but it does imply you can go without some sleep for a time and survive.
