Today is a power through day. I feel horrible. Still working, just slowly and reluctantly.
These are the days that 75 Hard is most effective for me. If it wasn’t for the challenge I wouldn’t have gotten off the couch today. I would have done as little as possible to make my world continue. But now, with the challenge going on, I’m still getting work and things done. Instead of just sit on the couch, I went to the gym. When I got home I finished my Miracle Morning and then made a healthy breakfast that goes within my diet. After that was feeling even crappier. Instead of turning on the TV and couch potatoing it, I went and watered the grass. Sometimes it’s just the small wins.
Now I’m writing this and doing work for my real job and looking at finishing the challenge today before I flop on the couch and do nothing.
These are my best 75 Hard days because I keep going and doing what I should be doing instead of the nothing I want to do. So I continue today without protest, just a little slower then I was yesterday, but it will still get done.
Here are the 10 things I will accomplish everyday during this challenge:
- Do the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
- Workout
- Do a Post and Podcast here
- Snap In
- Work on creating content on my side hustle for at least 30 minutes
- Track my Time from Off the Clock by Laura Vanderkam
- Slow Carb Diet from The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss
- Drink One Gallon of Water
- Drink Two Protein Shakes
- Two Social Media Posts
We’ve talked about the Miracle Morning and Workout on previous days. Today I’ll share my motivation behind #3 – Do a Post and Podcast Here.
I started this blog as way to put thoughts down everyday during my first challenge. It didn’t get done everyday, but I got some great feed back about people doing the challenge and my wife found the blog and that is one of the things that convinced her to do more.
What it broke down to was simple, I seemed to be influencing people in a positive manner. So I kept going. When I finally turned on my Google Analytics and looked there where 3,700 people visiting the site a week! And at the end there where over 300 people down loading the podcast daily. These numbers show me that I’m helping someone. I would love to say I’m helping all 4,000 people, but if I could help one to ten percent of those it would give this blog meaning and make it more then worth it.
So when I started the challenge again, I put on there that I would do this blog and podcast daily. If you are only reading this and haven’t listened to the podcast, I think I’m a better talker then writer. And I know that I’m more motivating over there. My wife let me know that fact. Thanks Wife, I know you are reading this.
But I’m going through and starting to see if this could be one of my side hustles. If the numbers stay up, I might right a book about going through the challenge, and then do a how to guide with daily emails and pick me ups on the challenge. Making money is cool, but people generally value more what they pay for. If I could create more accountability for more people to try and then finish this challenge I truly believe it will make the world a better place.
As I get older the goal of leaving the world better then I found it doesn’t seem that unreasonable. If I make the people around me better, and they do the same… It won’t solve all the problems in the world, but if all of us could make the world better in any measurable way, how great could the world be if 4,000 people did that starting today and worked at it for the rest of their lives? Crazy, I know. But “…the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that do.” – Steve Jobs
