Today is day 42 and I’m going strong. Just finished my first workout and it rained on me a little. Which wasn’t bad, and actually made the walk more enjoyable and a little more challenging. I enjoyed the extra challenge.
Started the day off mostly right. Got my reading done, but I need to add stretching to my morning routine. I’ve been doing worse at that and I’m starting to feel my age more because of it. It’s one of those things that is important but always seems like I can take care of it tomorrow. Kind of like most of us and our retirement accounts.
I am starting to focus on that more. Finally got a budget in line and am paying off my debt. After that start saving for retirement and buying some real estate as rental properties. Yes, that is part of my retirement plan.
The diet is still going strong. My wife “tried to help me” last night when I wanted another piece of steak during dinner when she had already cooked it. I’m trying to get as much protein as I can shove down my throat on this diet so I can still retain muscle from working out while losing weight. I know it’s almost impossible to do both, but I’m trying.
Speaking of weight, this morning I’m down 8 pounds from where I started the challenge. The scale is starting to move down again. Yeah me! Persistence is the key to everything. Set a time limit, and a reasonable one, where you will try something and then tweak it until it works. For me, 75 days is how long I’ll have to work a diet to see if it works or not. And now that it’s starting to work I’m liking it! I may stay on the diet after this challenge and just tweak it to measure my protein intake so I can make the 250 grams I should be eating a day. One trainer I have (and he is huge and ripped) said he eats about 310 grams of protein a day to stay his size. So I’ll have to play with that when the 75 Hard Challenge is over.
This challenge is giving me the confidence to do things like stay on a diet and tweak it a little to get things done. My family is out of the house and hear I am working on things that are important not watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones.
