Today was a good day. Got up did part of my challenge, went to get breakfast with the kid.
Got home went for a gym walk and then recorded a video for my other side hustle.
Had some time to myself, then took the kid out to lunch for like 2 hours. We played video games at the pizza place.
Got home worked a little more on my side hustle. Actually recorded a podcast that I’ve been meaning to record for a while. One of those emotional with kids involved ones that takes a while.
Then had dinner with the family, played board games (the kid won at Monopoly) and now doing this.
Not a lot of down time, but a good day none the less. I could have gotten more done for my job, but did a lot of family time.
I wonder sometimes if my family will get too use to me spending so much time with them. Right now I just keep spending more and more time with them but sooner or later I’m going to have to work more and cut something out. I tried cutting sleep but that didn’t work. So I’ll have to cut some of the family time or something else soon.
With the challenge I know I can. I’ve been cutting things to make sure the challenge gets done. During the first challenge when I had to travel for work I’d get up and go for a walk as my first workout at 5am to get it done before I had to leave for work at 7. I’d get back to the hotel at 9 or 10pm and then got on a stationary bike to finish out the day for 45 minutes.
I cut out everything but the challenge and work to get it done the first time. Now I’m using that cut skill to put family time in.
It’s a balance that goes back and forth, and I can use the skills learned on this challenge to make more time for important things. With nothing pressing at work, it’s easy to make extra family time.
What about you? Do you think this challenge can work for you? You can do it. Get up off the coach, put down the soda and fast food, and make a plan and then execute.
You can do it!
