Days are counting down… too bad my weight isn’t doing the same. It was depressing to step on the scale and watch it go back up for the last couple days. Now hopefully it will go back down, but I’m up 5 pounds from my lightest during the challenge. Not cool.
I’ll just stay with the process and see where I am at the end of the week. Eating at home over eating (even when I stick to the diet) is still better then eating out. And being gone for 4 days last week that had to contribute to the problem. This week I’ll be gone for another 4 days and see how that goes. Plus it’s going to be a long week with lots today.
Yesterday I was so tired I didn’t do anything. After doing the challenge and working almost 70 hours and being gone four days, I was out for the count. I spent the day on the couch watching the latest series of the Arrow. Very productive….
This week I am dedicated to getting done what needs to be done. There is no other way.
I just finished listening to the book The Miracle Equation (affiliate link) by Hal Elrod. If you are looking for something to read for your challenge this would be a great book! I listened to it on my morning walks. It’s all about having unwavering faith that you can accomplish a goal, and then putting in an extraordinary amount of work towards that goal. I’ve been doing that for 62 days now and most of what I wanted to accomplish is happening. I’ve grown as a person, my family is following me in the growth, I’ve been more focused, and I’m learning to be mentally tough again. The only part of the goal that isn’t moving is that damned scale!
But in the book Hal talks about how lots of his goals didn’t happen until the last hour of the time commitments he put on himself. I put the 75 days time limit on my self, so maybe most of the scale movement will happen in the next couple weeks. Even if it doesn’t I’ve accomplished a ton of things that I didn’t think I could do again. So I’ll let that one little thing just hang on.
75 Hard I will Conquer,
Ben Branam
Hey Ben you prob know this but we all need reminders at times. The scale doesn’t tell the whole story. Your weight isn’t dropping but what about your body composition? I’d guess you have a lower bodyfat % and more muscle even if your weight hasn’t dropped. Great job getting this far, I’m on day 4! And I also just read the Miracle Equation. Loved it too. Looks like we’re on the same path at the moment. You didn’t just read Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins did you? If so that’d be freaky because I just read that one too and loved that as well. Different approach but fired me up so that I believed in myself enough to start this challenge.
Thanks for the reminder. Yes the body fat is going down, but just wanted to be farther along… impatient is not a good thing. I haven’t read any David Goggins, but with your suggestion I’m putting it on my list.
Day 4! Keep going, it doesn’t get easier but it gets better. You can do it. It’s Day 64 and a rise and grind kind of day, but I’m still enjoying the challenge.
Thanks for the kind words and the reminder.
